Since I haven’t blogged in quite a long time, I thought a good way to start back might be to chronicle some of the highlights of the last 7 months of my life for a little light entertainment.

One of these highlights was definitely my time with our Romania Team a Camp Sadu this summer and one particular event in particular. The theme of the camps was “Building a house that will last” and it was about teaching the kids to honour God, live wisely and love one another etc…

But a definite highlight for me was the activity that went along side this theme. By the end of the week the teams were given the task of actually building a house out of scrap materials and lumber from around the camp and the most creative and best house won the big hairy prize.

Well this process was amazing and hilarious to watch. Most of these kids had never used tools of any kind before but the finished products were a testament to the creativity, ingenuity and resourcefulness of a group of people who have had to fight for everything in their lives.

The winning house, pictured below, was two stories high with a accessible loft to boot. The main room had bunk beds, a working door, a sink with mirror, and mock up light, wiring, and switch. There was a useable ladder to the loft which was very sturdy with a nice window and curtains.

On the outside of the house there was a complete fence with a gate, a washing line, post box, an outhouse with a real toilet and a welcome sign and flag to finish of the look.

It was amazing and a great experience for the whole group. This is the type of thing that life long memories are made of.

Dont you just hate it when you write a big email or a paper or something and just when you finish and try to save it or send it or publish it, it just dissappears. Well that just happened to me with a blog entry. It had a picture and everything and when i published it, it just vanished. It allegedly went on to my blog but this has yet to be seen. So if you see a stray blog entry floating around that looks like it might be mine could you, take it in, feed it, clothe it and then send it back to me. Cheers

Hello everyone who is so bored right now that you are still checking my blog even though I haven't updated it in about 7 months.

Sorry for the lack of content lately but I haven't had a computer at home so I was only able to update at work and since I don't want to spend every moment of my life at the edge I haven't done much.

but...I just got a new laptop and broadband at my house so hopefully this will be a corner turned.

Its funny that it has taken getting ready to leave the country for a couple of years for fiona and I to finally invest in a computer. But I am glad it has finally happened and I am very happy with my purchase. A Sony FS 315s for those of you that know what that means , or care. Its a beaut!

Anyway, hopefully now I will be able to cronicle more of my life on this post modern, ego driven web hosted journal. ha ha!
